Must be currently employed by the Riverside County Sheriff's Office. The two-day Crucial Conversations class offers tools and practice on how to hold difficult conversations when there is a potential for conflict, misunderstandings, or disagreements because there are opposing opinions, strong emotions, or high stakes. The Crucial Conversations class covers topics such as: preparing to have a difficult conversation and deciding what to bring up and what is the right conversation to have. Understanding that emotions come from our stories/assumptions and that affects how we communicate with others. The importance of being aware of our motives/intents and how they affect the difficult/challenging conversations. Making it safe for ourselves and others to bring up difficult topics by utilizing listening techniques. This class can help improve relationships by encouraging more open dialogue.
