Firearms Instructor EAST COUNTY TRAINING CENTER | 09/09/2024 - 09/13/2024

Must be currently employed by a law enforcement agency as a sworn peace officer, proficient with the AR-15 assault rifle (no civilian models) and pump action shotgun.

This course is designed to train participants to be Firearms Instructors (Range Masters). It will provide the skills knowledge to teach basic small arms training. Participants will be able to identify, define, and work with officers having problems with firearms. Instruction will include firearms safety, liability, firearms knowledge, course of fire design, methods of instruction, writing lesson plans, and presentation strategies.

Students will be required to pass a 30-round handgun qualification course.  The qualification shoot shall consist of a static line shoot firing at stationary target from 3, 7, 10, 15, and 25 yards. A minimum score of 90% (270 points) shall be attained. This shoot is a requirement by P.O.S.T. Participants who fail to qualify the shoot portion will not be allowed to continue with course.

• *600 rounds of duty handgun ammo
• *50 rounds of .38 cal ammo
• *50 rounds of rifle ammo (.223)
• *25 rounds of number four or 00 buckshot
• *25 rounds of shotgun slug
*RSD personnel will be provided ammo

NOTE: Tuition is due 10 days prior to start of class. If payment is not received, you will be dropped from the class. Cancellations made less than 10 days before the first day of class will result in loss of tuition.
